“ The Bullpen is one of the last remaining historical 1950's style supper/chop houses of its kind in LA county. Dimly lit. Big plush booths. Table side salad. Great cocktails. Lively bar. Bow ties on the waiters. Lights out steaks & prime rib. Great place to celebrate & experience with friends - enjoy a vibe that cannot be replicated by modern culinary school graduates. Protect the Bull Pen at all costs. ”
“ Every time I done here I've had a great time. There occasionally live music in the adjacent bar area. But I go for the food and service. They spin their salads. May seem like a minor thing but it adds a nice touch to otherwise bringing out a plated salad. It's a bit of showmanship. There have been a couple of times where my steak was either slightly overcooked or a bit tough. While I prefer a great steak, I realize not every one will be perfect. I am yet to complain. I've taken many quests here. A few complained they the place looks dull and dated. To me that adds a special charm - a step above the fancy and glitzy modern restaurants that don't always give you value. I like the old school look and hope it never changes. Parking lot is very large with plenty of available parking. No valet parking necessary. ”
“ As good as it gets! One of my favorite places to frequent when I'm in the South Bay. Craft cocktails that are poured right, the salad's insides are to die for, and my favorite is the fillet medallions in the mushroom gravy sauce boat. if you like eclectic throwbacks in time, you must try The Bull Pen. ”
“ Went to The Bull Pen tonight for a well needed date night, and had such a really great evening! We did not have a reservation however, Cissy got us right in with an amazing table and set us up for a romantic night. Lisa our server let us know about the Short Rib special which I will say might be THE BEST short rib I have ever had! Seriously! Lisa and Ernie took care of us from start to finish (and my need for extra bread, sauces and champagne!). I only wish we had room for the delicious dessert... but we did take 1 home! As always The Bull Pen is always on point! ”
“ The best crew in SouthBay with amazing vibes! Josh the manager knows he has a tribe that sets the bar high! Food and drinks are served w a smile. First time I came I met the warm welcome of hostess and server, Cissy. Bartenders I've met like Jack and Leslie make the best cocktails to order! No matter how crowded the place is, due to the amazing live music they bring in to entertain...you're always surrounded by fun dancing and awesome dining in the back. I've been back so much I feel like family GO Dodgers!! Watching it here right now!! ”
“ Came in on a whim for lunch in the middle of the day on a Thursday. We sat at a high top and were immediately greeted by a very sweet bartender who took our order. We knew we wanted to try their famous burgers. My husband ordered the Bull Pen burger with American cheese and I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger with cheddar cheese. Had no idea what to expect as it was our first time at the Bull Pen. The food came out and we knew we made the right choice by trying this place out! My burger was thick and juicy and the onion rings I upgraded to looked amazing. We split the burgers in half as recommended by our server/bartender and as soon as I saw the cross section of the burger I KNEW it was going to be bomb. Our server offered to bring me ranch as well which I am so glad he did because their ranch is DELISH. The burger was one of the best burgers I've EVER eaten and trust me... I've eaten a lot of burgers in my life lol. Sooooo juicy, thick and the quality of meat was excellent. The onion rings were super crunchy and huge and went very well with the side of ranch. I also reeeeeally liked the fries. Skinny fries that are extra crispy, yum!! I only wish I was able to take a better photo of the burger but hey, I was hungry! At the end of our meal, Rodney introduced himself to us and told us this place has been around 75 years!! Amazing. I can see why! Very nice employees here and a charming atmosphere. We will definitely be back! I saw someone drinking a martini and it looked sooooo good as well! Glad to have tried a great spot in Redondo Beach ”
“ So, the decor is the strength of The Bull Pen. It's a time capsule back to a different era. I thought the service was quite good, not exceptionally friendly but the waiter was excellent and took care of business. I guess blending into the background works and some may prefer it. The food was good, my steak wasn't anything special (I ordered a 12oz NY Strip and it was okay, I can do it better at home.) I liked the sides well enough, not bad but for the price I paid, the sides shouldn't be better than the main. I had fries and a salad - both good. My wife ordered better - Tournedos 8oz, twin filet mignons with bearnaise sauce. I swear it was more meat than my 12oz NY, cooked better, presented better and it tasted better. She also ordered the mac'n cheese side - delicious! In all, I liked the place and enjoyed my meal but felt for the price I paid, I won't run back. Maybe next time do a lunch and try the patty melt or burger? To recap, I LOVED the decor - DO NOT remodel! It's a fun place, service is professional and good. Food is enjoyable, I can tell effort is put into delivering a nice dining experience. A solid 4 stars for me - I'll return. Side note, the music after dinner was an experience! The band wasn't great, but they tried. Loved the crowd, I'll leave it alone as not to come off as... (not my vibe and not factored into my review.) ”
“ What can I say? Me and the fam have been coming here 30+ years at minimum. The food is always in point, the service is always stellar, and the ambiance is undeniably classic old school that is low lighting and one if the last classics in the area. I always get the sautéed mushrooms and Cajun Filet Mignon. Nothing here is bad--and I mean nothing! If you haven't been here--GO!!! It's a gem that I don't even like telling people about bc it's a hidden fam tradition that typically the older crowd hangs at ”
